Much will be of the best known groups in Cuba. There is a world of true Afrocuban music that to date has been exposed to only a few lucky people. Our goal is to video tape the great wealth of Cuban Rumba and music of the Santos and make it available to everyone that is curious or are aficionados of this great music.

About this video

A cabildo is perhaps equivilant to a club house or a private club.since the earliest of times, all the slaves from a particular tribe would gather at the cabildo to socialise and maintain their religious ceremonies and other social events. This particular performance was in the evening,and even though it was a performance I chose to call this video: Tarde en Cabildo because it features the entire family performing a number of rumba numbers. It's is hard to point out the songs because they mix a religious tunes with rumba time. One tune in this video is called Por los Mayores or For the elders and features yambu amongst other tunes.

	Yoruba Andabo performs Rumba. Yoruba Andabo is one of the finest rumba groups in La Habana. Their brand of rumba is super exciting with vocals by"Chan and Chapotin" and the excellent drumming by Freddy Martinez.

	Grupo Ita Orumi, performs Rumba en el Barrio. Grupo Ita Orumi was formed initially to perform traditional religious ceremonies in the barrio of La Lisa. They have been labeled as the truth. They perform simply and authentically.

	Los Muñequitos de Matanzas performing: Baila Rumbero, has become the premier rumba group of Cuba. They tour colleges throughout the United State's doing workshops and performing in concert. They are constantly evolving. The younger family members are already accomplished singers and dancers waiting to take their turn in this famliy tradition.

	This video replaces the first Yoruba Andabo titled Rumba. The first was taped under less tha desirable conditions. Still it remains of our hottest sellers. This video titled: Lo Mejor de Yoruba Andabo features a tune titled Protesta Carabali which features "chan, one of the finest singers in Habana along with Chapotin.

	Familia Taquechel is the same as Grupo Ita Oromi. The Familia taquechel is from La Lisa, a suburb of Cuidad la Habana. This is their second adventure with Orisha Productions and they have developed a following. They have been described with such adjectives as, raw, firey, and exciting. They are normally religous drummers playing for ceramonies. Emilio, pictured above is the leader. They have their first CD titled, Rumba Taquechel, thus the name of this video.
