Much will be of the best known groups in Cuba. There is a world of true Afrocuban music that to date has been exposed to only a few lucky people. Our goal is to video tape the great wealth of Cuban Rumba and music of the Santos and make it available to everyone that is curious or are aficionados of this great music.

About this video

While traveling in Cuba to film and other things I happen to drop by Minin's, (director of Afro-Cuba) in Matanzas. I was invited to stay for a party. I asked if I could film them and I was given permission. A couple of the dancers started to do a number they had been rehearsing but it turned out to be an adlib kind of thing. I could hardly believe what happened next when Oh well, see for yourself. It's a dance routine that will knock you out. Jose Garcia

	Familia Taquechel is the same as Grupo Ita Oromi. The Familia taquechel is from La Lisa, a suburb of Cuidad la Habana. This is their second adventure with Orisha Productions and they have developed a following. They have been described with such adjectives as, raw, firey, and exciting. They are normally religous drummers playing for ceramonies. Emilio, pictured above is the leader. They have their first CD titled, Rumba Taquechel, thus the name of this video.
